Today, we are introducing two scholarships that you can apply for before enrollment.
Scholarship 1: Silk Road Scholarship
- Eligibility
Applicants from countries in the “Silk Road” region who want to study the humanities or social sciences, such as Korean language, history, culture, politics, and economics.

Number of recipients: About 5 new graduate students

Benefits
Tuition: Full tuition waiver for up to 4 semesters
Living expenses: Up to KRW 600,000 per month for 4 semesters
Airfare: One round-trip economy-class ticket, up to KRW 1,000,000
Korean language training fee: Waived at the Language Education Institute

During the international student admissions period for each fall semester
- Review process
Applicants submit admission materials to the university admissions office -> applicants submit scholarship applications to the university’s Office of International Affairs -> each college/school selects recipients based on the admission documents -> the decision is announced

Scholarship 2: Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP/GKS)

Eligibility: International students applying to SNU graduate programs

Number of recipients: About 40-60 per year

Benefits
Full tuition: Tuition waived for 4 semesters for master’s students and 6 semesters for doctoral students
Living expenses: KRW 1,000,000 per month
Airfare: One round-trip economy-class ticket
Korean language training: 1 year
Korean language training is mandatory. If a student does not reach TOPIK Level 3 within one year, he or she is not eligible to begin degree coursework.
Other benefits: medical insurance, research funding, thesis printing fees, and settlement allowance
