Scholarships You Can Apply for After Admission to Seoul National University (Master’s and PhD)

For a university of this caliber, student support and assistance are naturally extensive. So, if you enroll in SNU as a graduate student, what scholarships can domestic students apply for?
Today, we introduce four scholarships that can be applied for after admission.
1. SNU President’s Scholarship Program
- Applicant eligibility
Faculty or staff members of a major university in a developing country who have not yet earned a doctorate
Newly admitted SNU doctoral students, with priority given to faculty members from major universities in developing countries in Asia, Africa, South America, and other regions

Number of scholarships: approximately 8 recipients per semester

Benefits
Tuition: full tuition exemption for up to 6 semesters
Living expenses: KRW 1,500,000 to KRW 2,000,000 per month for 3 to 4 years
One round-trip airfare ticket (economy class based on the GTS system)
Korean language training (night classes only during regular semesters)

Application period: after admission results are announced each semester

Review process
Applicants submit admission applications to the SNU Admissions Office -> after admission results are announced, applicants submit scholarship applications to the administrative office of the designated college -> selection by the "SNU President’s Scholarship Selection Committee" -> notification of the final decision

2. SNU Global Scholarship
- Applicant eligibility
International students enrolled in graduate degree programs
- Number of scholarships
Approximately 160 students
- Benefits
Tuition, living expenses, airfare, and accommodation fees (the amount of support depends on individual circumstances)
Language training support is available for students who want to improve their Korean
Additional funding is available for students who need academic support

3. Daewoong Foundation Scholarship

Applicant eligibility: international students enrolled in graduate degree programs

Benefits
A one-time award of KRW 2,000,000
An opportunity to work at Daewoong Group, with an advantage when applying for positions there after graduation

Application period: around April each year

Review process
Applicants submit documents to the SNU Office of International Affairs -> the office conducts the first round of screening -> the DAEWOONG Foundation conducts interviews -> notification of the final decision

4. Korean War Memorial Foundation Scholarship
- Applicant eligibility
Direct descendants of foreign veterans who participated in the Korean War
- Benefits
Tuition: full tuition exemption
Dormitory fee (subsidized by SNU)
Living expenses: KRW 500,000 per month
- Review process
Applicants submit applications to their respective colleges -> colleges conduct the first round of screening -> the SNU Office of International Affairs conducts the second round of screening -> confirmation by the Korean War Memorial Foundation -> announcement of the final decision
