The University of Milan is one of the largest universities in Italy and a national comprehensive research university. The university has eight schools in total: four focused on the life sciences, four on the humanities and social sciences, and two others, one school of technology and one school of sports science.

The University of Milan is a member of the League of European Research Universities, the 4EU+ Alliance, and the European University Association. It ranked 151-200 in the 2020 Academic Ranking of World Universities, tied for first in Italy with the University of Rome and the University of Pisa; 351-400 in the 2021 Times Higher Education World University Rankings; 301st in the 2021 QS World University Rankings; and 164th in the 2020 U.S. News Best Global Universities rankings.

As a well-known university in Italy, the University of Milan also receives a steady number of applications from Chinese students every year. It also participates in Italy's Marco Polo Program, a cooperation initiative between the Italian government and China, which provides a more convenient path for students from China to study at the University of Milan.

Below, let's look at the requirements for applying to this university.

Undergraduate

High school graduates or applicants with an equivalent qualification, with excellent academic performance in high school; a Gaokao score plus subject test scores of 380 or above out of 750; if the full score is not 750, the scores will be converted proportionally. Submit provincial mock exam results if available; if the province does not organize such exams, they may be omitted; and meet any other requirements of the chosen major.

Master's

Complete a four-year university program and obtain a bachelor's degree certificate, with an average GPA of 80 or above; and meet any other requirements of the chosen major.

Language Requirements

Marco Polo Program students: Students applying through the Marco Polo Program do not need to provide a language certificate before going abroad. However, according to Italian regulations, applicants must complete six months of language training in Italy and reach the required Italian level before graduation. Once they meet the language requirement, they can take the university's corresponding exam and, after passing it, begin studying in their admitted university and major.

International students: Students applying to the University of Milan through the international student track must obtain an Italian A2 certificate before departure, and must reach Italian B1/B2 proficiency before enrollment.

It is worth noting that the University of Milan has particularly close ties with China. There are 344 Chinese students studying there. It is also one of the few universities that teaches Chinese language and culture, with about 500 undergraduate students in multilingual mediation and intercultural communication studying Chinese.

Therefore, students who want to study at the University of Milan should prepare early.
