Founded in 1953 as a branch campus of Columbia College Chicago, it offered a curriculum focused on the radio, television, and film industries. It was one of 20 film schools in the United States to be a full member of the International Association of Film and Television Schools (CILECT) and was accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Senior College and University Commission.
