The Belarusian State University is a leading scientific, educational, innovation and cultural centre of the Republic of Belarus. It exercises its’ potential which is based on the best domestic and international experience in order to comply with intellectual, cultural and social demands and interests of the individual, society and state and to facilitate the sustainable development of the country.

According to major international rankings the BSU is among 2 per cent of world leading universities out of 30 thousand educational institutions. According to QS international ranking in 2018 BSU is among 354 best world universities.

The basis core of the BSU is made up of the academic community which is a creative union of teachers, researches, students and post- graduate students. Today at the BSU carry out their different duties almost 8000 employees and 3200 of them occupy teaching full-time positions within university major faculties and institutes. The quality of education is assured by a high qualification of the BSU teaching staff, among them 12 academicians, 14 Corresponding Members of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, 400 Doctor of Science and 1600 PhD degree holders. There are 700 research workers involved in caring out academic research, experimental and design work, innovative and production activities to solve most actual problems of science, technologies and industrial production.

Today our university has over 500 international agreements signed with universities and scientific institutes out of more than 60 countries of the world. Bilateral cooperation includes different forms of joint activities:

- exchanges of Undergraduate, Master and PhD students for studies and research training; - teaching, administrative and research staff exchanges; - joint Master and PhD programs; - joint research projects, conferences and seminars; - exchange of scientific, methodical literature, and periodical editions; - sharing experience and best practices in the sphere of university management; - cooperation in the sphere of R&D products.

Currently BSU is successfully involved into 9 Tempus and 6 Erasmus Mundus projects addressing academic mobility (EMA 2), curricular development (ACES, NETCENG, TRADIR, Сomolte, ENERGY), human security (HUMAN), promotion of innovations (SUCSID), university management (INURE) and internationalization (PICASA).

Academic mobility takes particular importance in the modern world today and is the main component of the BSU cooperation with other universities. More than 1500 teachers, young scientists, undergraduates, master students and postgraduate students of the Belarusian State University travel abroad every year to undergo scientific training, deliver lectures, participate in conferences, as well as to do research and make joint international projects.
