Seven Funny News Stories You May Have Missed This Month
Seven absurdly funny headlines, from skirts at school to a plane delayed by coins, that you may have missed this month.
Summer is here, exams are over, and that can only mean one thing: it’s time to have some fun. Sure, you could spend your time reading the latest world university rankings, but let’s be honest, you just want something silly to share in the group chat.
Here are the headlines that kept us laughing all month.
Dressing Like Women to Beat the Heat
What do a group of schoolboys and a 20-year-old call center worker have in common? They both decided to wear women’s clothes to get around strict dress codes. A school in Devon, UK, told students that shorts were not part of the formal uniform, so a group of students joined forces and turned up to school in skirts instead.
Joey from the UK took things one step further when he was told he could not wear shorts to work at a call center. Do you think he pulled off the look?

Saving Money by Any Means Necessary
If you live in the UK, you probably know exactly how expensive train tickets can be. Twenty-one-year-old Joe from Newcastle found a creative workaround: he flew from Newcastle to London via Menorca in Spain, a long detour that saved him more than £50. Joe even had a cheeky cocktail on the beach while he was abroad. Nice!

How to Delay Your Flight
Speaking of flying, maybe don’t do what one Chinese woman did this week. In an attempt to ensure good luck for her upcoming flight, an 80-year-old passenger threw coins into a plane engine. Unsurprisingly, that was not great for the engine. Other worried passengers reported it to the authorities. Although eight of the nine coins were recovered, the flight was deemed unsafe because the last one could not be found, so all 150 passengers were delayed for five hours. Luck seems to have been a little out of reach for her.
Strike a Pose

A Naughty Queen
In the wake of a ridiculous UK general election, the Queen went to Parliament to deliver the Queen’s Speech for Theresa May’s minority Conservative government. While most people focused on how much her hat looked like the EU flag, one eagle-eyed onlooker was too busy sounding the alarm, reporting that the Queen wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.
Glastonbury’s Must-See Act
We finish with the biggest highlight from this year’s Glastonbury Festival. Was it Radiohead, Foo Fighters, or Ed Sheeran that impressed attendees? Was it the unusually hot weather that made the weekend unforgettable? No, apparently not. Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn appeared at the festival and spoke from the Pyramid Stage to cheers from hundreds of thousands of people. He was so popular that nearly every set all weekend was interrupted by chants of “Oh, Jeremy Corbyn” to the tune of “Seven Nation Army.” Stormzy loved it so much that he even joined in...
